Where is the academy located?

La Moda Milano brings international students to Istituto Secoli that is located in Viale Vittorio Veneto 18A, Milan, Italy.

What does my academic day look like?

Students will attend classes from Monday to Friday from 9:30 to 12:30 and from 14:00 to 18:00. Classes are comprised of lectures, group and individual projects and site visits.

Who are my instructors?

Instructors for each course are fashion stylists, editors, journalists, or industry professional and thought leaders.

What language are classes taught in?

All classes at La Moda Milano are taught in English to accommodate our international student body. Some courses may offer Italian language options as well.

What extracurricular activities are available for students?

La Moda Milano offers a range of extracurricular activities including fashion shows, workshops, guest lectures, and industry visits. These activities are designed to enhance students’ learning experience and industry connections.

How do I apply to La Moda Milano?

All prospective students must complete an application through our online submission system. You will need to provide your personal information, educational background, and a portfolio if applying for a design-based program.

How are applications evaluated?

How will I be notified of an Admissions decision?

All applicants will be notified via email. Our admissions review process typically takes 1 to 2 weeks, but we can often release a decision sooner.

Will students receive certificates for the program?

Yes, at the end of the course students will receive a certificate of attendance.

What are the tuition fees at Lamoda Milano?

Are there scholarships available for students?

Yes, La Moda Milano offers a variety of scholarships to help students finance their studies. For more information on eligibility and application procedures, please visit our Scholarships and Financial Aid page.

Do you provide student visas for international students?

Unfortunately, we do not provide student visas, nor do we provide information on how to obtain visas for travel to the Italy. We encourage students to contact their country of origin’s embassy/government office for that information. Letters of verification can be provided upon request.

Is housing available for students?

While La Moda Milano does not provide on-campus housing, we assist our students in finding suitable accommodation near the academy. For resources and recommendations, check out our Student Housing Assistance page.

Is health insurance required?

How will students travel around Milan?

Students will be accompanied by instructors or professors during class site visits and official program activities. During free time, students can travel around Milan freely. We recommend that students and parents/guardians discuss safety and guidelines before they arrive in Italy. Parents should feel comfortable allowing their students to move unsupervised throughout Milan during their off time.

Do students need to purchase a Travel Pass for public transit?

Yes, students are responsible for their own travel expenses during the program.

Two ways to obtain travel passes are:

  1. Tap to pay on mobile phone (requires credit card upload onto their phones) (Recommended)
  2. Purchase a Travel Pass on the ATM app

When do students need to arrive?

Students need to arrive at least one day before the beginning of the program.

What should I bring to Milan?

  1. Clothing: light and cool casual summer clothing, jacket or sweatshirt, raincoat, swimsuit, sandals, comfortable walking shoes, a set of nicer clothes (for more formal events)
  2. Weather gear: sunscreen, sunglasses, umbrella, reusable water bottle
  3. Academic supplies: laptop, notebook, pen
  4. Camera and/or journal/diary
  5. Personal electronics: IT compatible cell phone and plan, headphones, chargers and laptop adapters (if international)
  6. Spending money (for travel, souvenirs, and incidentals)

Should students bring a tablet, laptop or other classroom material to Istituto Secoli?

Teaching materials will be provided by the Institute. Students may bring tablets and PCs for personal use and for taking notes, in addition to a normal supply of pens, pencils, stationery, paper and fabric scissors, which they will have to procure themselves.

What shouldn’t I bring to Istituto Secoli?

For safety reasons, students are strictly prohibited from bringing flammable materials — including but not limited to matches, lighters, e-cigarettes/JUUL devices, fireworks, or any explosive items. Weapons of any kind — such as knives, pepper spray, or any dangerous objects — are also not allowed.

Possession or use of alcohol or unauthorized substances is strictly forbidden. Bringing pets is not permitted either.

Violating any of these policies may result in immediate dismissal from the program.

Is there a particular dress code?

At La Moda Milano, students are expected to present themselves in a manner that reflects both professionalism and respect for the academic environment. Given the frequent opportunities to engage with industry experts and professionals, we ask students to maintain a polished, appropriate appearance while still embracing their individuality.

Students must wear:

  • Full-length tops (crop tops are not permitted)
  • Bottoms that provide appropriate coverage (e.g., pants, jeans, skirts, dresses, leggings, or shorts)
  • Footwear of any kind (shoes, sandals, flip-flops)

The following are not allowed:

  • Clothing or accessories featuring violent, offensive, or inappropriate language/images
  • Items promoting drugs, alcohol, or illegal activities
  • Swimsuits
  • Accessories that could be hazardous or weapon-like
